The Wildlife Map of the Hebrides

24. Rodel

Beside the pier there is a bed of metamorphosed limestone rock unique in the Hebrides. The mill loch was built for wildfowling and the birds are now protected. Goldeneye and whooper swan may be seen here as well as the more familiar mallard. There are still signs of an old planted woodland in Rodel glen.
