The Wildlife Map of the Hebrides
7. Garry
There are fine sea stacks on Garry Beach, one of which resembles Queen Victoria, while another - Caisteal a Mhorair - shields the remains of a small defensive settlement on the top. The grass on the cliff-top to the south of the beach can be treacherously slippery. Loch na Cartach is covered with water lilies in summer, and the spectacular setting makes this a very popular site. The bridge was built by Lord Leverhulme as part of a road from Tolsta to Ness which was never completed.
